Sophisticated, functional and playful. The inspiration for this renovation of a 650 SF Manhattan apartment was Gene Kelly’s atelier in the movie An American in Paris. In the kitchen, bright red handmade and hand-finished cabinets, black slate countertops, a pocket door, and a custom ladder turn this small room into an easy, elegant, and accessible workspace with ample storage. The owner’s favorite black-and-white checkerboard pattern was used to tile the bathroom floor and new walk-in spa shower. A custom fit Carrara marble sink, glass cabinetry, and clever use of mirrors makes the bathroom feel much larger than its 60 SF. The renovation was featured in both Curbed New York and the New York Post.
